Talking about Conflict

Tonight at Christian Challenge, I have the priveledge and responsibility of teaching the students about conflict.  Last week we had the Traveling Team, an organization that mobilizes and equips the church to join in God's mission of redemption of all people, they shared with our students that the heart/mission of God is to bring to Himself all people from every tribe and tongue.  We also had our fall retreat last week and the speaker, Fred Harris, talked about Spiritual Warfare.  Tonight I'll be framing the idea of conflict in the context of why we have conflict to begin with by going back to the first conflict which is when man sinned, choosing his way instead of God's way.

I'll be talking about how all of the conflicts we have need to be reexamined in view of the first conflict so that we put the priorities of God first in our lives and do not become distracted from the mission of God.  We'll be talking about the spiritual warfare aspect involved in every conflict, as battles that the Enemy uses to get people to continue distrusting God and continue living in disobedience to God's mission.

We'll also be talking about how to practically treat conflict in view of the commands Love God and Love Others.  To always place our relationship and the relationship others have with God at the top.  To make right relationship with God always the first priority.  Then if there are still issues, to have restoration and good relationship between the people of God.  And how the key to a lot of this is communication and humility.

So please pray I am not talking about crazy things.  That I'm staying faithful to the text and that what I say is short, concise and easy to grab hold of.    Also, there are a lot of students in our ministry that haven't made the commitment to follow Jesus yet, so through all this stuff talked about tonight to some how tie it all into the idea of submission to God and following Him.
