Kicking off the Semester!

The break is over!  Students are back in town (hopefully registered for the classes they need).  And our first Ministry Team Meeting of the Year starts today!  I'm really excited to see all of our student leaders and catch up with them.  During the break there were several stories and prayer requests from our leaders about evangelistic opportunities.  It's such a blessing to hear them ask others to join with them in praying about the salvation of their friends.  It's even more encouraging to hear how God has been using them to bless their friends and allowed them to be part of His redemptive work.

In fact, right before the end of last semester I had the opportunity to talk a student through a decision to become a follower of Jesus.  The only reason why I had the chance to do this is because of the perseverance and friendship of one of our student leaders.  This student was faithful in bringing her friend to Challenge for Refuge and other events.  She also was faithful in answering questions her friend had  about the faith and consistently pointed out others who could answer questions too.  These are the kind of stories that I hope will continue to be characteristic of Spring 2012.

Please be in prayer for our ministry team meeting today.  We are brainstorming for our Refuge nights and finalizing our theme for the semester.  We will also be re-casting vision for our students to keep all of us on the same page as we re-group and ready ourselves to impact our community for Christ one life at a time.

Our director at Christian Challenge, Julie Evans, shared a vision for ministry with student leaders that she had while in seminary.  She shared how she pictured in her head the relationships that she had with students she was influencing or discipling while at Christian Challenge.  Those students would spread out away from Christian Challenge and Tucson as they graduated and started their careers.  She saw in her mind's eye how eventually, if she persevered in discipling these students that her influence on people in Tucson could eventually branch out across the world.  This has happened for her as students she has influenced are now found on 4 of 5 continents continuing to serve Christ.

Would you commit to praying with me this semester for students and staff at Challenge to persevere in pursing the lost and making disciples?

Reflection Questions:
1.  Who are the lost in your life?
2.  Has anyone intentionally influenced/discipled you?
3.  Who are you intentionally influencing to become loving followers of Jesus?
