This fall semester I'm registered to take Old Testament at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. I really look forward to the class because I think that a better understanding of the Old Testament mean a richer and fuller knowledge of the grace extended to us through Christ.
A neat little turn of events in both of my small groups is that we are going through the Old Testament right now! In FSBC Tucson's Northwest Life Group we have been working our way through all the biblical narratives starting with the creation to crucifixion and resurrection. We are still in the Old Testament just getting into the book of Numbers.
At Epic Church, we have just started a 13 week study through the Old Testament that is a lot like a Old Testament Survey Course. I'm really grateful for the overlap of material because the format of the quizzes will most likely be the what I'll be getting in my GGBTS course.
Things are starting to pick up again and I'm trying to keep up and transition into the lifestyle once the students return and school starts up. I have lots to look forward to this fall things that we've already started and some new things I'm going to give a shot.
I got to meet with a couple of the small group leaders I'll be working with this year and I'm really excited for them because they've never led a community group before or done a bible study! I know that they'll be great and can't wait to see how God shapes them into the leaders He has called them to be.
I will also be trying to gather an informal media production team for Christian Challenge. More an more media production/graphic design is becoming an integral part of identity and community. We have a lot of gifted amateur artists, photographers, journalists, and videographers. Why not gather them together and allow them to use their gifts to serve others? It should also help to cut back on work for me. Last year I really tried hard to do all of it covering events so that at the end of the year I'd have a product to show them planting a seed of possibilities in our media guru's.
The last really big thing that I'm scared and excited about is starting a Samson Society at the UofA. If you're not familiar with the Samson Society its essentially a group of guys that meet together in brutally honest yet loving Christian Community. Men sharing life with one another and encouraging each other in their pursuit of a deeper more intimate walk with Jesus. To get an inside look and more info into the Samson Society read Samson and the Pirate Monks by Nate Larkin.
